Procurement agencies should accelerate wheat crop lifting

Chandigarh, April 26 - Haryana Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education Department Sh Vineet Garg today conducted a visit to several grain markets in Fatehabad district to assess crop procurement process. He said that proper arrangements have been made to ensure that farmers do not face any kind of trouble in selling their produce. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of ensuring seamless crop lifting.
Earlier, the Additional Chief Secretary convened a meeting with officials at the Public Works Department's rest house to review the preparations for wheat procurement in the district.
The Additional Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure timely payment to farmers for their crops. Additionally, considering the summer season, he emphasized the need for adequate provisions such as clean drinking water, electricity, toilets, and gunny bags at the grain markets in the district. Furthermore, he engaged with traders and farmers, attentively addressing their concerns.
ACS Vineet Garg encouraged farmers to bring their crops to the markets and procurement centers only after thoroughly drying and cleaning them, enabling procurement agencies to purchase their produce promptly. He directed officers to ensure adequate arrangements for gunny bags and other necessities in the mandis, as well as proper facilities for crop storage. He said that every grain of the farmers’ crop would be procured at the minimum support price, ensuring fair compensation for their produce.
