Badal indicates to revive Vidhan Parishad in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Friday strongly favoured to set up Vidhan Parishad parallel to Vidhan Sabha and said he would revive the porposal.

Addressing a press conference after taking over charge of CM, Badal said that his aprty had passed a resolution in the state assembly for setting up of Vidhan Parishad. He said that he was told that Congress party had also passed similar resolution. "I am in favour of it", he added.

He said that proposal was sent to entre government but it was not cleared due to certain technical problem. He said that if Vidhan Parishad was formed he would be happy to nominate some reputed journalist in it.

Badal said that session of Vidhan Sabha was expected to beconvened on march 15. He said that election of speaker and deputy speaker would be done on that day.

Badal said that he would be accessible to people and the media as well. "You are welcome to see me anytime and tell me the shortcomings in the government", he told the media.

He said that with assuming office his responsibilites had increased. He said that he would try to be perfect in his dealings and a clean government would be given in Punjab.
