CHANDIGARH: Punjab Local Bodies and Medical Education and Research Minister Bhagat Chuni Lal assumed his office in the presence of Senior BJP Leaders here at Punjab Civil Secretariat.
Speaking on the occasion, the new Local Bodies Minister reiterated that the SAD – BJP combine’s resolve to ensure 100 percent water supply and sewerage coverage of all cities and towns of Punjab in next three years. He said that the department would also accord priority to decongest urban areas for streamlining traffic. He said that to provide World Class civic infrastructure in urban areas, required number of flyovers and by-passes would be constructed. He said that Air Conditioned bus service would also be launched in other major cities for the convenience of daily commuters.
He said that a meeting of senior officers of Local Government Department would be convened soon to review the status of ongoing projects besides prioritizing the projects to be undertaken in near future to create country’s best urban infrastructure in the state. He also reiterated his commitment to sort out the problems being faced by public and announced that he would be available to everybody in his office.
On this occasion Ashwani Sharma President BJP Punjab, Anil Joshi, Industries and Commerce Minister, K.D.Bhandari MLA, Manoranjan Kalia MLA, Balramji Dass Tandon and Tikshan Sud, both former Minister, Dr. Baldev Raj Chawla, Chairman, Punjab water Supply & Sewerage Board, Manjit Singh Rai and Kamal Sharma, both Punjab BJP General Secretaries, Mahinder Bhagat, Vice President Punjab BJP, Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary Local Bodies and A.K.Sinha, Director Local Bodies were also present and congratulated Bhagat Chuni Lal.
