NEW DELHI: The supreme court on Friday issued a notice to the Punjab government on a petition filed by former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh challenging his expulsion from the state assembly.

BATHINDA: kisan mela organised on Friday at the regional research station of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Bathinda remained a “mismanaged event” as farmers appeared dissatisfied.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab forest department has initiated a novel campaign of greening the urban areas through establishment of 'Forest Awareness Parks'  on Urban forest areas that otherwise had been facing severe anthropogenic pressure and were degrading into  wastelands.

“Fifty per cent of our factories have shut down as they do not have cotton for ginning process. The spinning industry will also face a severe crunch of cotton for making yarn,” Punjab Cotton Factories and ginner’s association President Bhagwan Bansal said on Thursday.
