By Nagender RantaSHIMLA: Stepping up pressure on the Dhumal government, the opposition Congress Party in Himachal Pradesh today met Governor Urmilla Singh and demanded a CBI probe into the corruption charges including JP scam.
Himachal state unit Congress president Kaul Singh leading the delegation said, “We presented a memorandum to Governor Urmilla Singh and apprised her about the large scale corruption being infested by BJP government in state. We demanded a CBI probe into all scams including the big infamous JP scam .”
Talking to newsmen after their meeting with Governor Urmilla Singh, the Congress President said that Dhumal government has direct blessing to all three land mafia, mining mafia and van mafia, who are plundering the resources of the state.
“Inside and outside the Vidhan Sabha, we have been raising the large numbers of corruption issues of this immoral government for the last four years. Now the historic judgment of Himachal High Court on JP scam endorses that we were right in our stand,” Kaul Singh told media.
Reiterating that the Chief Minister PK Dhumal was misleading the people on JP scam, Singh said that the previous Congress government had withdrawn the permission of JP Thermal plant in July 2007, which was re-permitted by the present BJP regime in 2008 under pressure from this corporate house.
“The present Dhumal government is the most corrupt in the history of the state. It’s not only Congress but BJP’s own MP Rajat Sushant has been openly attacking his own government on corruption issue. The senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar has cornered Dhumal government on corruption. Rebel BJP leaders who after quitting the party made new political outfit Himachal Lokhit Party (HLP), are coming with news scandal of the present government. With all these happening on the political stage of the state, the stand of the Congress party on corruption get certified,” Said Kaul Singh.
On Tuesday, Congress Party staged a protest against rampant corruption across the state on the district level, giving memorandum through the district magistrate to the Governor. This day was observed as the ‘Rosh Diwas’ with major protest held in Shimla.
