Mata Jaswant Kaur to be cremated Tuesday at Beant Singh memorial in Chandigarh

##img_1##CHANDIGARH: Mata Jaswant Kaur widow of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, who died in Chandigarh on Monday will be creamated at Beant Singh memorial in sector 42 here at 12 noon, the family sources said.

She was admitted to PGI Chjandigarh following cardiac arrest around 3 PM on Monday. She was declared dead in the hospital.

Beant Singh was assassinated on Aug 31, 1995, by a suicide bomber ourside civil secretariate here. After the death of her husband, Mata Jaswant Kaur led the political legacy of family and ensured that kin of Beant Singh get due place in political arena. She was highly respected in the political cicles of Punjab especially the Congress party.

Her son Tej Parkash Singh was minister in the Punjab government led by Harcharan Singh Brar who succeeded Beant Singh. Ravneet Singh grand son of Jaswant Kaur is MP from Anandpur Sahib. Her grand son Gurkirat Singh Kotli is secretary PPCC. Her daughter Harkanwal was Parliamentary secretary in the Amarinder Singh government.

Punjab Leader of Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Jaswant Kaur widow of Beant Singh Ex-Chief Minister, Punjab. 

In her condolence message she said that Jaswant Kaur was a noble, pious and brave lady, who had stood by her husband and gave moral support to him during the testing time of militancy in Punjab, due to which Sardar Beant Singh as Chief Minister with his bold steps wiped out terrorism to pave an era of peace, amity and development. Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, Bhattal  prayed the Almighty to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss.

he Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal also  expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Bibi Jaswant Kaur wife of former Chief Minister Late  Beant Singh.

In a condolence message Badal expressed heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty to give strength and courage to bear this loss and grant peace to the departed soul.
 
Meanwhile, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder, PPCC president Mohinder Singh Kay Pee and Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab have expressed profound grief at the sad demise of  Mata Jaswant Kaur.

Punjab Information & Public Relations Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan has also condoled the demise of Mata Jaswant Kaur.
