GNDU gets Rs. 1.30 cr to start M.Sc. on Nano Science and Technology |

AMRITSAR: The Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India has given a grant of Rs. 1.30 crores to Guru Nanak Dev University for starting a new course of M.Sc. (Nano Science and Technology) in its Department of Applied Physics from the ensuing academic session 2008-09.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jai Rup Singh stating this said that Guru Nanak Dev University is among the 11 Universities of the country those had been covered under the National Mission on Nano Science and Nano Technology of the Union Ministry of the Science and Technology Of the selected Institutions, three Universities including Guru Nanak Dev University had been asked to start this two-year course of M.Sc.(Nano Science and Technology) while the rest of the eight Universities have been directed to start an M.Tech. in Nano Science and Technology. Prof. Dr. Jai Rup Singh said that a grant Rs. 1.30 crores has been received by the University for introducing this new course of two-year M.Sc. (Nano Science and Technology) from this academic session 2008-09. The Vice-Chancellor said that fifteen students would be admitted to this course annually on the basis of All India Entrance Examination to be conducted by the University in the third or fourth week of June and each student admitted to this course would get a student fellowship of Rs. 3,000 (Rupees Three Thousand only) per month and a contingency of Rs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand) per annum.
