CHANDIGARH: SPIC under the aegis of Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration has signed a memorandum of understanding with Indo Global College of Engineering, Abhipur  where by it will help later to  develop the IT skills of their students, faculties and will provide complete solution for computerization of the college.

 

The MoU was signed Friday between Manjeet Brar, Director IT & CEO-SPIC, Chandigarh Administration and Dr. Ashok Kumar Goel, Principal, Indo Global College of Engineering, Abhipur at SPIC-Centre of Excellence PEC Campus, Sector – 12, Chandigarh. 

This tie up will give an opportunity to students of Indo Global College of Engineering to equip themselves with latest technologies which will enhance their employability. It will lead to development of IT skills of faculties and thus improve the delivery of education.

Indo Global College of Engineering was set up in 2003, approved by AICTE, New Delhi and is affiliated to PTU, Jalandhar. The college enrolls 360 students in Engineering: Computer Science & Engineering (120), Electronic & Communication Engineering (120); Civil Engineering (60) and Mechanical Engineering (60). 

The Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC)  which has been set up under the aegis of the Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration for implementing the various IT polices  of the Administration to promote the software services and IT enable services Industry in Chandigarh and driving initiatives to promote Chandigarh as an attractive destination to investors. SPIC is also playing a pivotal role in promoting HR development initiatives of the Administration.

Manjeet Brar, Director IT & CEO-SPIC, UT informed that through this association SPIC will provide trainings on  courses like; MCSE, MCSD, .net, MCDBA, MCAD, Visual Basic.net, ASP.net, SQL Server 2000, .net solution architect, C language, C++, Web Designing, MS-office and AutoCAD 2007 2D and 3D to students of all streams.  Apart from that SPIC will also provide 6 months Industrial training to the students of final semester of Computer Science & Engineering stream of IGCE at SPIC.

During this training they will not only be imparted  training but will also be involved in live IT projects of SPIC which will give them exposure to live working environment.  SPIC will also provide consultancy to IGCE for computerization of its all departments like administration, accounts and student management system where SPIC will involve teachers from IGCE so that they get hands on experience of live project environment which will help in enhancing their knowledge, Brar said.

He further said that, along with IT programs SPIC will also offer customized personality development course under its 'Chandigarh Training on Soft Skills(C-TOSS)' portal which will give students of IGCE an extra edge in their career. C-TOSS program which is an endeavour of Chandigarh Administration is a very specialized program which is being run at schools and colleges level to develop and improve the communication skills of students which is now an essential requirement for global work culture.

The Chairman of Indo Global College of Engg, Sukhdev Singla said that the association between SPIC and IGCE. Abhipur, will help in upgrading the IT skills of Human Resource as per the industry standards and will help in creating talent pool in this region for the industry.
