CHANDIGARH: The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32 is about to become a landmark in the Transfusion Medicine (TE) by raising the standards of practices in TE in the Northern Region.
The Department of Transfusion Medicine today organized a conference on continuing Medical Education (CME) in TE. It was inaugurated by Pradip Mehra, Adviser to the UT Administrator. On the occasion, Adviser said, "Today's age is the age of super specializations where in every field there are myriad scope and opportunities." He emphasized that there is need of coordinated approach between the three major Medical institutes of the city so as to minimize the work load and maximize the work efficiency. He further said, "In a developing country like India shortage of resources are major issues, so the available resources should be optimally used and the purchase of equipments should be as per the expertise and demand." "Administration has always been supportive in providing better medical services to the people of the city and at all times ready for extending necessary help," he added. Director Health Services, M S Bains said, "Our motive is to supply quality product and skilled workers in the field of TE so that the GMCH becomes the centre of Excellence in Blood Transfusion sector." He also released a souvenir in form of a CD. The organizing Chairperson, Dr. Sabita Basu, averred that the field has evolved as highly sophisticated and diversified with wide range of backgrounds including pathology, hematology, anesthesiology and pediatrics. Pr. Raj Bahadur, Director Principal, GMCH-32, disclosed that soon the College would be applying for starting the Post Graduate programme in TE recognized by the Government of India. Delegates from different part of the country, faculty members and students were also present on the occasion. |
