PATIALA: Congress-led UPA Central Govt's appointed sixth pay commission has recommended final burial of Long out standing demand of 'One rank one pension of the Ex-service men of the country besides other harsh and damaging recommendations in their report tabled in the parliament in the last week of March 2008, with regard to defence forces.
Punjab has the largest number of Ex-servicemen affected especially persons below officer Rank ( PBOR), who will loose their ray of hope as almost all political parties, mainly Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) supported this and it has been included in SAD'S election manifesto 2007-2012. This was stated by Col (Retd.) Partap Inder Singh Phulka of Ex-servicemen in wing of SAD while addressing a Press conference, after addressing a protest rally on Sunday. He recalled that the former president APJ Abdul Kalam, while addressing the Joint Session of Parliament had committed its implementation on one rank one pension. Now in a complete turn about congress led UPA has shattered hopes of lakhs ageing and ailing Ex-servicemen. Col Phulka said the team of ex-serviceman wing has carried out detailed study of the report, where young cream will not find it attractive and lucrative to join the defence services, as it is our Military basic training academics will close one day and the country will be left with no choice. But to order conscription, that will be the only option to defend India's borders, on it is Defence forces are dumped with shortage of 12000 plus officers and as an aftermath of acceptance of these recommendations will open floodgates of applications for premature retirement. Col declared that ex-servicemen (ESM) wing of (Shiromani Akali Dal ) will join all future protests marches and rallies besides mobilising their grassroot ESM workers to teach Congress led UPA Government a lesson in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections. A Tidal wave like protest against the commission injustice to the armed forces culminating in show of strength by 'Ex Fauji's of New Delhi is also in the pipeline of various ex-servicemen organisations including ESM wing of Shiromani Akali Dal. |
