LUCKNOW: Several people were injured in a sectarian clash triggered by a minor dispute in the old city Monday evening.

According to the police the trouble broke out between groups of Shia and Sunni Muslims at Husainabad Gate and soon began pelting each other with stones.

They said at least six persons were injured in the clash and contingents of police, PAC and RAF personnel rushed there chased away the "trouble-makers".

Senior police and administration officials are camping in the area and the PAC and RAF took out a flag march in the narrow bylanes of the old city areas Monday night.

"The situation is tense, but under control. We have taken all measures to prevent any untoward incident," Lucknow Inspector-General of Police A K Jain said.
