AMRITSAR: Dalbir Kaur sister of Sarabjit singh, Indian prisoner lodged in Pak jail, after her return from Pakistan here Tuesday appealed to Government of India to provide councilor access to the Indian prisoners lodged in the various Pakistani jails.
Kaur said that during her visit in Pakistan she was informed in the Kotlakhpat jail that two Indian women were rotting in the prison for the last many years and now they have almost lost their mental balance. Kaur said that here it becomes the duty of Indian Government to come forward and official of Indian High Commission based at Islamabad must visit there for the purpose of their early repatriation to India. Continuing further Kaur said that during her stay in Pakistan, she had met 41 families in Pakistan, whose kin are lodged in the different jails in Indian under the passport acts or violations of visa terms. Kaur said that members of 41 prisoner’s families were weeping immensely and begging before the Indian Government to repatriate them to Pakistan at the earliest possible. Kaur said that Pakistani media informed her that in Pakistani jails, numerous Indian prisoners were lodged and now Indian Government should initiate first to release Pakistani prisoners so that Pakistan could reciprocate in a better manner. Kaur said that she urge both the Governments of India and Pakistan to wave the death penalty of their prisoners on compassionate ground in their respective countries. Sarabjit’s kin including wife Sukhpreet Kaur, sister Dalbir Kaur, daughters Swapandeep Kaur, Poonam and brother-in-law (Dalbir’s husband) Baldev Singh Tuesday returned India from Pakistan after visiting Sarabjit Singh at Kotlakhpat jail in Lahore. |
