CHANDIGARH: President Punjab Congress  Rajinder Kaur Bhattal Thursday expressed anguish over the role of officers of Development Department and the Police officials in the Panchayti Raj Institutional elections scheduled for 12th of May.

She warned in strong words the officers playing puppets in the hands of Jathedars and roaming in their cars instead of performing their duties and issuing necessary documents to the candidates of Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samitis.

She said that Congress will not allow such officers to openely take sides of the Ruling Party instead of discharging their duty for the conduct of free and fair elections to these grass root Institutions.

Bhattal said that she has received reports from various parts of the State about non-availability of documents by the candidates. She added that the officers indulging in partisan politics shall not be spared.  Warning the SAD BJP alliance  about its high-handedness of the officials at their behest she said that the Congress will come to the streets to seek justice from the people which will spell doom for their regime.

She asked the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs to check and take departmental action against  their subordinate officers indulging in such practice.

Meanwhile  Bhattal has expressed concern over increasing number of incidents of fire in the wheat fields.

According to  Raj Pal Singh General Secretary Punjab Pradesh Congress, Bhattal has demanded adequate compensation from State Government to the victims of fire in the fields in Tanda Urmur.

Raj Pal Singh stated that  Rajinder Kaur Bhattal  has also appointed  Sanjeev Bhargav as Member of the Media Committee of the Pradesh Congress for Amritsar Bye Elections.
