FATEHGARH SAHIB: Five of the nine water samples, collected from various area of Bassi Pathana town of district Fatehgarh Sahib, failed the purity test .
The bacteriological analysis of water samples was conduced at Bacteriologist of State Public Health Lab, Chandigarh and is reports was sent to Civil Surgeon, Fatehgarh Sahib, who had issued directions to the concerned authorities. In Bassi Pathana, the water samples were collected from Municipal Council 's tubewell no 1, 2,3; MC Supply Sadhu Singh, Mohalla Challi Wala; MC Supply Prem Singh, ward no 3; Government Senior Secondary School ; Civil Hospital ; ITI ; ITI Quarter and it was found that water is not potable at MC's tube well no 1 ; MC Supply Prem Singh, ward no 3; Government Senior Secondary School; Civil Hospital; ITI, Quarter. After receiving the report, the civil surgeon, directed the concerned department to close their sources of water or made alternate arrangements of potable water. He also directed chlorination till making further arrangements. It may be mentioned here that the residents of Bassi Pathana are facing acute shortage of drinking water and the undeclared power cuts have further made the life miserable in the beginning of summer season. Bassi Pathana is the only town where the population is decreasing every year as the people are deserting their native town due to lack of basic civic amenities of life. The residents are facing drinking water shortage. The water tank in the town is lying unused from the last two years as it is leaking and the council does not have money to repair it. Another water tube, installed at the cost of Rs 25 lakh, is lying unused from the last one year as the council does not have funds to get the electricity connection and the PSEB is not sanctioning connection without clearance of pending amount of bills. |
