CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pensioners Welfare Association has served a legal notice on Punjab Government for illegal appointments of Mechanical Engineers and politicians as members of the Punjab State Electricity Board.

RA Rahi General Secretary of PPWA has sent a legal notice to Chief Minister Punjab GS Sra and HS Brar both mechanical engineers have been appointed as Technical Members of PSEB .

It has been claimed that under section 5 of Electricity (Supply) Act 1948 only electrical engineers can be appointed technical members of the state electricity board.

It has been alleged that this is against service rules and the criterion of  seniority cum merit has been ignored. There are more than 30 Electrical Engineers in Chief /Chief Engineers who have been by passed.

The appointment of two technical members is thus in violation of constitution and it has been sought that the appointment of two members be cancelled and new members from electrical Engineers –in –chief/ Chief Engineers be appointed.

The copy of notice which is available with News line shows the copies of notice has also been sent to Advocate General Punjab, Chief Secretary and Power Secretary Punjab.
