FATEHGARH SAHIB: A 19 year-old girl allegedly committed suicide as she could not face harassment by her ex- paramour.

On  the statement of the girl father Dharampal, a resident of village Chanalo, the Sirhind police has registered a case against Sanjiv Chopra, a resident of Mohalla  Dalichi, Sirhind under section 306 of the IPC.

Sources said that a case had already registered against Sanjiv, who allegedly eloped Dharampal’s daughter  some years back when she was pursuing BCA at a Fatehgarh Sahib based college.

Dharampal in his complaint to police alleged that Sanjiv was harassing her daughter. He said the case is still pending in court and Sajiv was on bail.

He said that her daughter was presently studying at a Mandi Gobindgarh based college but Sanjiv continued to harass her, threatened her to give statement in his favour and her daughter told them (her parents) about it. 

He said Sanjiv last time met her daughter some days ago and again threatened her to give statement in his favour on May 5 in court.

Sources said that the girl statement was to be recorded today (May 5) in the court but she consumed some poisonous substance. 

Dharampal alleged Sanjiv compelled her daughter to commit suicide so strict action should be taken against him.
