JAMMU: Two children died after a tree, uprooted in a squall, fell over them in Samba district, officials said Tuesday.

They said that five-year-old Riya and Bittoo Sharma (7) were crushed by the falling tree Monday in Samba village, where they had gone to attend a function.

The two children were having their food near the tree when the incident occurred, the officials said, adding that the victims were rushed to a local hospital, where doctors declared them.
