ADAMPUR: Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda Tuesday assured the people of Adampur assembly constituency of such a massive development at an accelerated pace in next two years that it would beat the record of development made in last 40 years.

Hooda was addressing a largely attended public meeting at village Mangali in Adampur assembly constituency in support of Congress candidate Ranjit Singh Tuesday.

He said that the people of Adampur assembly constituency have always elected candidate of the Congress Party and they would again elect the candidate of the Congress party in the bye election with a record margin.

He regretted that although the legislator of Adampur assembly constituency remained Chief Minister of the State for 15 years, this assembly constituency has remained backward in case of development.

He said that the leaders of the area had made tall promises with the people, but they never proved true to their word.

In Adampur, he said, instead of doing mass welfare, some people concentrated more of grinding their own axe. While assuring to usher in a new era of rapid development in the area, Hooda said that their vote cast in favour of Congress candidate would elect two legislators, one would be Ch Ranjit Singh and the other would be he himself.

Hooda said that those who have lust for power have thrust this byelection upon the people. Without naming former Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal, Hooda said that the former Chief Minister never got any work done in favour of any community.

He said that Bhajan Lal never safeguarded the interests of the farming community whereas the present Haryana Government got the MSP of wheat increased by Rs 250.

He questioned that on what basis now Bhajan Lal has been to the area to seek votes. Hooda said that his government has ensured adequate water upto the tail end of canals and the increase of MSP of wheat has immensely benefitted the farmers.

The Chief Minister said that never before such ambitious projects have been implemented for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and farmers which have been implemented by the present State Government.

He said that a number of schemes have been implemented to raise the educational status of the children belonging to weaker sections of the society.

While referring to the issue of power, Hooda said that the previous governments did not try to add even a single MW to the generation capacity of the State. On the other hand, the present Government has made efforts which would result in additional generation of 5000 MW of power by the year 2010. Apart from this 2000 MW of electricity would be purchased under the Central Power Purchase Policy. As a result of these efforts, the people of the State, would be able to get uninterrupted supply of electricity for 20 to 22 hours by the end of 2010.

He said that a record investment of Rs 1.12 crore has been made for the development of Mangali village during the tenure of his Government.

Earlier, the President of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee,  Phool Chand Mullana also appealed to the people to vote in favour of Congress candidate. He said that the Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda would prove true to his words.

The Congress candidate, Ranjit Singh said that INLD and Bhajan Lal have always jointly contested the election from  Adampur Assembly Constituency.

He said that Bhajan Lal would lose this byelection with the same number of votes with which he had won the previous election. He said that INLD was no where in the race.

He said that the manner in which he had been getting support of the people he would win the election by a margin of more than 50,000 votes.

About 400 employees, hailing from Adampur Assembly Constituency, who were retrenched by the previous government supported  the Congress candidate. It may be recalled that the previous government had retrenched the services of 1600 employees but the present government had reemployed them. As many as 400 employees who have again been employed hailed from Adampur Constituency.
