FATEHGARH SAHIB: Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Dr Kaustabh Sharma informed that four inter state smugglers, which was recently arrested by local police revealed that they had hatched a conspiracy to  get release their accomplice Soni from Rajindera Hospital, Patiala.

 

The SSP said during the interrogation it is learnt that Soni is lodged at Patiala jail but he was admitted at Rajindra Hospital on the pretext of illness.

He said that earlier the gang members were involved in smuggling of poppy husk but they had started vehicle theft and were also planning to loot a money lender. He said that acting on information that a gang of vehicle thieves were moving in the areas of district

Fatehgarh Sahib, the CIA staff was alerted and CIA staff nabbed the vehicles near Nandpur Kalour on Bassi Morinda road  by Ashok Kumar and his team.

He said that a vehicle Indica car and other accent car was rounded and occupants were questioned about the ownership documents to which they did not reply satisfactorily and the documents produced were found to be fake and a case relating to the vehicles was found in which theft and preparation of forged documents was also made out.

He said that on their disclosure a country made fire arm was recovered from One Nishan Singh resident of Rajo Majra Sangrur who is an absconder of the Dhuri police station in Sangrur district for the last 6 years in a case of poppy husk smuggling and had now changed his identity to that of Balwinder Singh and procured a driving license for the new name, another accused Hardip Singh resident of Kokari Kalan  has a number of cases registered against him relating to NDPS act and from him buttoned knife was recovered . On their disclosure four Maruti cars were also recovered and they have further confessed to stealing another seven more from the Sarabha Nagar area of Ludhiana. Other two accused are Sandeep Kumar of Kokari Kalan (Moga) and Jaswinder Singh of sector 52 A Chandigarh.

The SSP said that further remand of the accused has been obtained and investigations are being carried to recover the remaining cases.
