68 per cent polling in district Fatehgarh Sahib Print E-mail

FATEHGARH SAHIB: Around 68 per cent polling was recorded in district Fatehgarh Sahib during  Panchyat Samiti and Zila Parishad election in  431 polling stations of the five blocks of Khamano, Bassi Pathana, Sirhind, Amloh and Khera.

 

On some seats, there was contest  between SAD and BJP as both the parties had fielded their separate candidates. The district administration had declared 112 polling stations in the district.

Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Dr Kaustabh Sharma informed that appropriate forces was  deputed in the area to combat any unsavoury situation. He said that the district police has not registered any case against so for disturbing law and order during the election process.

In Khamano block, 37 polling stations had declared sensitive, in Bassi Pathana 19 polling stations, in Sirhind 29, in Amloh 20 and in Khera 7.

There was total 2,71,815 voters eligible for voting in the district under the  supervision of six returning officers, 1,555 employees, 30 polling supervisors was deployed but 68 per cent voter excercised their right of voting.

Two SAD(B) candidates were elected unopposed in Khamano Block Samiti . After completion of withdrawal of nomination papers in the district, two SAD (B) candidates from Hawara Kalan and Manali constituencies of Khamano Block Samiti were declared unopposed winners.
