FATEHGARH SAHIB: True to expectations, the Shiromani Akali Dal gave an impressive performance in the Zila Parishad(ZP) and panchyat samiti polls .

The SAD won 9 of the 10 Zila Parishad seats in the district while the Congress managed to win just one seat.  In ZP elections, Varinder Pal Singh of Congress defeated Kirpal Singh of SAD from Hawara Kalan zone while SAD candidates  Sarabjit Kaur from Madhopur zone, Gaganjit Singh from Khera, Gurcharan Singh from Dhunda, Surjit Kaur from Jassran, Rajinder Kaur from Salana Dullo Singh Wala, Inderjit Singh from Fatehpur Ariya, Kulwinder Singh from Dhanola, Manmohan Singh Makaropur from Chunni, Sukhjinder Kaur from Chanarthal defeated candidates of other parties and independents. In Block samiti elections,  SAD won 14 seats out of 15 in Bassi Pathana block while one seat was won by Congress . 

All results of Amloh block, Khera block, Sirhind block, Khamano block is  yet to be declared as it is expected that all these will be declared in morning. Like ZP results, it is expected that SAD will upper hand in other block samiti elections also.
