AMRITSAR:  The clean sweep by candidates of ruling alliance in  the Panchyati Raj Institution (PRI)  Elections clearly shows that public mandate is in favor of SAD-BJP, claimed, Sukhbir Singh Badal, President Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) during a poll rally for Amritsar (South) Constituency, here today.

Sukhbir was here for election campaign of SAD-BJP in favor of Inderbir Singh Bulaira, the candidate for Amritsar (South) Constituency by poll.

“No State can progress without power so suitable projects are being initiated to make the State power surplus”, said he.

PRIs are the building blocks of democracy and a thumping victory in PRI elections is an indication of the fact that our government has its roots gripped firmly at the grassroot level of democracy and blowing hot or cold by opposition can not erode people’s faith in us, asserted Sukhbir.

Sukhbir revealed that within a year 4 new power projects to provide 200 Megawatt of power each will be set up at Mansa, Gidderbaha, Rajpura and Goindwal Sahib respectively by incurring a cost of Rs. 50,000 crore. 

Talking about the development of Amritsar city, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that within a short span of two and a half years Amritsar would be given a complete facelift.  The initial assessment reveals the need for nearly Rs. 1000 crore for the transformation of Amritsar  into a model city and ways and means for arranging the required funds are  being looked into, said he. 

Sukhbir Badal said that all the aspects of wholistic development of the city right from power supply to building up infrastructure and providing civic amenities will be catered in the development plan for the city.
