CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Administration-run Chandigarh Football Academy boys in the last four days played two friendly matches against FC Sachen Under-19 and Lower Sachen Under-17 teams which are National champions in their respective age groups in Germany.
According to a communication received here today from Chandigarh Sports Director-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner from Leipzig, the matches are part of the advanced training programme the 15 CFA boys are undergoing at the Egedius Brawn Sports School under German coaches Arvid and Tom Stucky since May 8. Players of both German teams were not only older in age by 3 to 4 years but also taller by 5 to 6 inches .However, the CFA players impressed their opponents by skillful play and their spirited fight . Though they lost both the matches by a few goals yet they enriched themselves through international match experience .The new techniques adopted by the Germans to breach the CFA defence was an eye opener. The coaches are now working on improving the game of the CFA players through strategic formations, interchange of positions by swift movement and developing new game-plan.In the next two matches which are scheduled to be played in the next 3 to 4 days, the coaches expect a far enhanced performance .The training is now getting more strenuous and is in turn shaping the boys to meet the challenge of tougher opponents . |
