Punjab congress leaders to meet President today for President rule in Punjab Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH:  Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee President (PPCC) Rajinder Kaur Bhattal Thursday said that she was not satisfied with the recent result of Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections as unfair means were used by the ruling SAD (Badal).

Addressing the press conference at Amritar after meeting of PPCC, Bhattal said Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections as a farce and murder of democracy in Punjab in broad daylight. It was the unanimous views of CLP which met here today attended by the 29 sitting Congress MLAs, claimed by Bhattal.

Adding further Bhattal said that CLP would meet the President of India tomorrow at New Delhi with the request  to impose Governor rule in the state of Punjab, since presently rule of the jungle prevailing there as it was witnessed during the recent held Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.

Bhattal said that in this regard Congress party representatives Surinder Singla and Munish Tiwari going to meet the Chief Election Commission with the demand of deployment of paramilitary forces in the bypoll in Amritsar to he held on May 22.

Bhattal alleged that there was a gross misuse of power in Amritsar and bureaucracy fully on the disposal of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal who was camping city for the last more than two week.

Congress party in such circumstances could never expect free and fair poll in Amritsar and sought the deployment of paramilitary forces before election, added Bhattal.
