PSEB pays compensation to farmers for burnt crop |

PATIALA: Punjab State Electricity Board(PSEB) has given cash compensation to farmers in the state whose wheat crop was burnt due to devastated fire recently.
Y.S.Ratra, Chairman, PSEB informed here Tuesday that in view the hardships faced by farmers whose crops have caught fire due to electric spark from PSEB's system, the baord has decided to pay the compensation. He said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had instructed PSEB to conduct a survey with the help of Deputy Commissioners, regarding the loss suffered by farmers. Punjab State Electricity Board has identified 324 such cases out of which 46 cases are in South Zone, 52 cases in North Zone, 40 cases in Central Zone, 42 cases in Border Zone and 144 cases in West Zone. Ratra further informed that compensation to the tune of Rs 40 lakh have been disbursed to farmers in 324 cases, in remaining cases orders have been issued to pay the compensation with due verification. |
