AMRITSAR: The Chairman of Sikh Judicial Commission (SGJC) Kashmir Singh Patti who had only yesterday feared  threat to his life from the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Tuesday resigned in protest from his post.

Addressing the press conference at  his residence  Patti said that he has sent his resignation to the Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab, Department of Election through fax today.

Patti in his resignation said, “In view of the circumstances developed by the functionaries of the State of Punjab at the behest of Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab, it would not be in the interest of judicial dignity and propriety to continue as President of Sikh Gurdwara Commission, Amritsar”.

Resignation letter further stated, “Therefore, keeping in mind the larger interest of the Sikh people and the democratic principles, I hereby submit my resignation under protest and I should be considered not working as President of the Sikh Gurdwara judicial Commission”, said Patti in his resignation letter.

Yesterday Patti has leveled serious allegation on Badal said that if any mishap occurred to him or his family, it would be the direct responsibility of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Patti said, “ If anything happen to him or any of his family members, it would be the direct responsibility of the SAD Government led by the Parkash Singh Badal. Badal could eliminate me at anytime.  Anything worst could be expected from Badal”.

Patti who was served show cause notice by Chief Secretatry said  in reply  that as per the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 and as per the provisions of Constitutions of India the President of SGJC has power to perform judicial functions. There is separation of powers, therefore this kind of enquiry by an IAS officer of the State of Punjab cannot he held. It is the judicial function i.e. of the High Court to conduct such enquires against him.
