CHANDIGARH: Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Bharat Ratan Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his Martyrdom Day by hundreds of Congressmen from Kharar and Banur constituencies in a commemorative function at Punjab Congress Bhawan, Chandigarh today. 

Floral tributes were offered to Sh. Rajiv Gandhi by Kharar M.L.A. S. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Ch. Tarlochan Singh Ex M.L.A. General Secretary , Smt. Krishna Mittu Vice President and Smt. Rajinder Kaur Secretary Punjab Pradesh Congress.

 In his message Balbir Singh Sidhu described late  Rajiv Gandhi as the leader who dreamt to steer India to the 21st Century. He envisioned a technically , financially and politically strong India which would play a vital role in global politics. The other leaders called for strengthening the Congress Party to turn the dreams of Sh. Rajiv Gandhi into reality who envisioned the Panchayati Raj System to bring democracy at the grass root level.
