Two acquitted, widow convicted, sentence on May 23 Print E-mail

FATEHGARH SAHIB: The court of District and Session Judge, Fatehgarh Sahib acquitted two persons in a murder case but held a widow guilty of murder of the youth.

 

It may be mentioned here that the Mandi Gobindgarh police on March 7, 2004 initially registered a case under section 302 of the IPC against Swarn Kaur, a resident of village Shahpur. It was alleged that following a dispute,  21-year-old Ranjit Singh was murdered by his  widow aunt(Tayi) Swarn Kaur, a resident of village Shahpur with sword.  

Later, two other persons Baljinder Singh, a resident of village Salana and Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Shahpur was also involved in the case but these persons are acquitted by the court today but the widow was found guilty. The Judge would pronounce the quantum of sentence on May 23.
