Punjab: Peaceful polling in Amritsar by-election |

AMRITSAR; Nearly sixty percent polling was recorded in Amritsar South assembly by-election om Thursday. The polling however remained peaceful barring few minor incidents of verbal duel. The Election Commission of India had deployed Border Security Force(BSF) to reinforce secutrity since all the 140 polling stations of holy city were declared sensitive.
Now the fate of all the candidates have been sealed in ballot boxes. The counting would t be done on May 25.. Total number of votes in the constituency is 132172. There were four candidates in the election fray SAD (Badal) candidate Inderbir Singh Bularia, Congress candidate Navdeep Singh Goldy, Ram Singh of Shriomani Akali Dal (Mann) and one independents Sharanjit Singh. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of SAD MLA Raminder Singh Bularia on February 14 this year.
