Punjab woman strangulated, two including husband arrested Print E-mail

FATEHGARH SAHIB: A 35 year old woman was allegedly strangulated to death by his husband in Bassi Pathana. The police has arreste dher husband and his brother in the case.

Though the deceased husband and brother-in-law said that the woman herself committed suicide but the deceased brother Hitesh Sharma in his complaint to Bassi Pathana police alleged that her sister’s husband Narinder Sharma and his brother Ravinder Sharma murdered her sister. 

On the statement of Hitesh Sharma, the police registered a case against the deceased husband and his brother under section 302 of the IPC.

Shiv Ram Sharma of Gurunanakpura Mohalla of Bassi Pathana told the media persons that her daughter Manju was married in 1995 with Naresh Sharma of the same town and the couple has two daughters, who are students of class II and VI.

Shiv Kumar alleged that Narinder was a drunkard and often quarreled with his daughter. Sometime people intervened to resolve their dispute. He said his son-in-laws younger brother Ravinder visited their residence today and requested him to reach at Manju’s residence. He said that when his family members reached at her daughter’s home they were shocked to see the body of his daughter lying on bed. He said that their were signs of strangulations on the neck of her daughter but his son- in -law and his brother maintained that Manju had committed suicide after hanging . He said that they tried to take him confidence to cremate the body immediately but he did not listen to their request. He said they immediately called police. He said his son in law and his brother
is behind his daughter murder. Both have been arrested.

The police is also inquiring from other members of the family. Fatehgarh Sahib SP Shamsher Singh Boparai also reached on spot. Sources said that the police worked on various theories that whether the woman was strangulated to death or committed suicide. Ultimately, the case was registered in evening on the statement of the deceased brother.
