PATIALA: Patiala police has registered a case against UT police officer for allegedly accepting Rs.5 lakh bribe from an accused  for shielding him from police in the case of robbery conducted on May 28 last.

SSP Patiala SK Asthana Wednesday claimed to solve the robbery case in a press conference. He has claimed that police successfully arrested 3 accused , among the arrested persons the main accused Yadwinder Singh alias Laddi of Paharipur village of Patiala was arrested in Case FIR
No. 237 Dt.29.05.08 U/s 307/353/332/34 IPC & 25/54/59 A/Act. and from him 1 Maruti car, 1 .32 Bore Pistol (Foreign) along with 5 live cartridges and Rs.2,70,000/- which was part the cash looted in FIR No.94 were recovered, The second accused Gurmit Singh @Bawa S/o Mehar Singh Jat R/o Balbera PS Sadar Patiala was arrested and from him one knife along with Rs,1,15,000/-. Tarsem Kumar S/o Shivji Pandit R/o Kalwanu PS Ghagga in connivance with few others planned everything and  was also arrested, One Car Ford Ikon and Rs.50,000/- was recovered
from Tarsem Kumar.

Apart from this Rs 2,05,000 has been recovered from earlier arrested accused Bikramjit Singh @Vicky Rs, 90,000 has been recovered from Gurpreet Singh @ Bagga Rs, 1,00,000 has been recovered from Yadwinder Singh.

He said that Harvinder Singh, who is the uncle of the accused Yadwinder Singh @Laddi has given an affidavit that his nephew Yadwinder Singh @Laddi has committed dacoities on 28.05.08 along with his other accomplices. That his nephew had paid Rs. 5 Lakh to an Inspector of U.T. Police  Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal who had taken the money from their village Paharpur assuring them that he will save him from Police and also from the case. He alleged that afterwards Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal had switched off his Mobile Phone and his Nephew has been arrested by Patiala Police. Thus he has defrauded them of Rs 5 Lakh..

A  separate case under section  8 and section 9 of 13(1), 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and 420 IPC FIR No 242 dt 04.06.08 PS Sadar Patiala has been registered against Inspector Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal posted in Chandigarh and the investigation will carried out against him separately
