FAEHGARH SAHIB:  Municipal Council, Mandi Gobindgarh, which is considered among richest  municipality of the state got Rs 20 lakh after issuing No Objection  certificates (NOCs) to around 200 applicants, contesting MC poll.

It may be mentioned here that NOC was essential at the time of filing  nomination papers otherwise papers of the candidate is rejected. The  basic purpose of NOCs is to give clearance to candidates that there is no  due of the candidate  towards the municipality .

As per information received,  most of due was related to House Tax,  Water supply charges in Mandi Gobindgarh and the candidates got their NOCs  after depositing around Rs 20 lakh, which is infact benefit for the  council. Interestingly, some candidates who had earlier served as  president of the council had also deposited huge outstanding amount to get  their NOCs. Some persons got their NOCs but did not submit their  nomination papers due to various reasons.
