CHANDIGARH: Prof. R.A. Yadav, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), MoHRD, Government of India, New Delhi has confirmed that inspections of all new institutions(for 2008-09) would be completed before 30th June all over the India and AICTE a has made comprehensive arrangement for the same.

He was addressing the gathering in National Seminar and Interactive Session on the topic "Excellence in Technical Education". The session was organized by Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA). More than 400 officials from various technical and management institutions from Punjab, Himachal,  Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, JK etc participated in the sessions.

He emphasized on direct interaction between AICTE and the institutes so that the problems faced by these institutes can be solved rapidly. He also said that apart from various resources like infrastructure, capital etc., the important factor is to provide right kind of human capital in technical institutions. He also provided information on how institutes can obtain additional courses with the same infrastructure.

While speaking on Staff Development and Research Projects, he informed that AICTE has started around 20 schemes for faculty development programmes at IIMs, IITs, universities and various renowned institutions.  If more institutions apply for projects, the research grants will be given by the council.

He has also asked the institutions to focus on certain issues such as better linkage with the industry, devotion of time and resources for research work, seed entrepreneurship, more transparency in the working, learning individuals and organization, focus on values, eliminate boundaries and work in a team, implementation, faster, efficient and smart networking and most important- faith in oneself.

He also said that the council is facing big challenges to meet  like quality education, structured & updated curriculum, skill development, regional imbalances and self appraisal system.


Dr. R. P. Bajpai (Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University), Er. M. P. Gupta (Director, Technical Education, Haryana), Dr. S. P. Singh (Regional officer, AICTE, Chandigarh), Sh. Naresh Nagpal (Additional Director,DTE),Dr.R.P.Singh,(Dean Academics, PTU, Jalandhar) were guest of honour on the occasion. Dr. J. S. Dhaliwal (President, PUTIA) welcomed the guests.
 
Dr. Zora Singh and Dr. D.S. Grewal made a comprehensive presentation on the demands of association. Dr. M.S. Grewal and Sh. Manjit Singh were the stage secretary. Dr.Rohin Sachdeva,Gen Secretary,PUTIA was also on the stage. Dr.Madhu Chitkara gave vote of thanks
