CHANDIGARH: Students of “Hamari Kaksha” presented five impressive small act Plays on various social issues including Female Foeticide, Blood Donation, Aptitude and Attitude, Dignity of Child Labour and Struggle of Common Man in a short span of two hours at Punjab Kala Bhawan Auditorium here today.   Shri Vipin Pubby, Resident Editor, Indian Express was the Chief Guest.

Pubby appreciated the efforts of the organizers in sensitizing the society to have concern for the have-nots and in spreading the message of love and affection apart from helping them to sustain themselves.  He complimented the youngsters for their good performance.   He also gave away the prizes to the participants.  The prizes were sponsored by the Corporation Bank.

 Earlier Dr. Anuradha Sharma, President, Hamari Kaksha – A Class Apart, a Regd. Voluntary Organization informed that sixty children from the age group of 5 to 15 participated in this 20 day theatre workshop under the guidance of Mr.Chakkresh Kumar and his team members Neeresh Kumar, Lalit Chandra and Meena Kumari. Mr. Chakkresh is a theatre artist and has been doing theatre workshops in different city schools. Koshisk –A collage of plays is an awareness drive in which the students of Hamari Kaksha are giving a message of hope, love and affection.  Common man needs to fight all these evils and voice his opinion

The Plays were titled  -    Mujhe Jeene Do  ( Female Foeticide ) Street play ( 15 minutes),  Rakt Daan   ( Blood Donation ) Street play ( 10 minutes ), Any and Many (aptitude of children) Skit ( 10 minutes ),  Sachchai  ( Child Labour ) Skit ( 8 to 10 minutes ) and  Koshish Jari Hai Struggle of Common man) Stage play ( 30 to 35 minutes).

Ms. Sarita Tewari, Secretary of the Organization told that each year during summer vacations our NGO strives to hold a special workshop for the children for enhancing their communication-cum-interpersonal skills, creative ability and leadership qualities.
‘Hamari  Kaksha –A class apart’ is a registered voluntary organization working for the Upliftment of less fortunate children since 2003.The children are first generation school goers belonging to economically and socially backward strata of society.

Majority of the children coming to Hamari Kaksha are the so called dropouts, repeaters and backbenchers simply because they do not have any direct home support to formal schooling. They are vulnerable to the non conducive situations prevailing at home and
school. In short Hamari Kaksha is a substitute home for these children assisting them to do well in all spheres of life. Today around 110 students come for three hour class held from 4. 00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. for academic and personality development activities.
