Protesters stoned PRTC bus to lodge protest against highhandedness of Akalis |

FATEHGRH SAHIB: To lodge their protest against the alleged high handedness of Akalis, the protesters damaged a bus of PRTC and pelted stoned on police late Monday night.
Earlier, there were reports that the police had to fire to disperse the mob but Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Dr Kaustabh Sharma clarified that the police only burst tear gass shells. The reason behind the protest that the polling at ward no 14 of Sirhind. Dr Harbans Lal, senior congress leader and former minister alleged that the congress candidate was winning from the ward no 14 but booth capturing was done by Akali activists and police remained mute specter. He said they lodged their protest over it but the police had taken him and other Congress leaders. SAD(A) leader Emaan Singh Mann also lodged protest but the police had taken them to Nabhipur police chowki. When the police had taken Dr Lal and others to police chowki, his supporters blocked traffic near Anaj Mandi Sirhind for long time and the police had to burst tear gas shells to disperse the people. The SSP said that it was only preventing arrest of Dr Harbans Lal, Emaan Singh Mann but the action would be taken against those persons who had damaged the bus the stopped the polling staff to perform their duty. |
