FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Bassi Pathana police has registered a case against Amita Tangari, a senior congress leader and former president of Municipal Committee(MC), Bassi Pathana for defacement of a house of Gaurav Verma.
The Tangari was contesting election from ward no 8 as an Independent candidate supported by Congress and won the election. Now the police has registered a case against Amita Tangari under section 3 of the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1997. It may be mentioned here that a PCS officer M.L. Verma's son Gaurav Verma, a resident of ward no 8 of Bassi Pathana town of district Fatehgarh Sahib has complained to Bassi Pathana SDM, who was also Returning Officer(RO) for conducting municipal election in the town. Verma had alleged that in the campaigning for municipal council elections a few candidates had defaced the walls of his house facing and the street by sticking their posters and slogans. As per the complaint, after their humble all the candidates except Amita Tangari had removed their posters. Workers of Tangari stuck their slogans and posters even after they were forbidden to do so. Verma said that they will face the consequences themselves. Verma had requested the RO, Bassi Pathana to take legal action against such 'lawless persons' . He had also attached the photographs of defaced walls of his house along with the complaint. The copy of the complaint was also submitted to Fatehgarh Sahib DC and SSP. Bassi Pathana It may be mentioned here that Tangari's husband Om Parkash Tangari is a senior congress leader and close to former forest minister Dr Harbans Lal. In previous Congress government Om Parkash Tangari was member District Planning Board. |
