Sukhbir BadalCHANDIGARH: The  Shiromani Akali Dal President and Member Parliament  Sukhbir Singh Badal Thursday warned partymen against electing heads of Zila Parishad, Panchayats and Municipal Committees without the consent of party leadership.

He announced that the decisions regarding Chairmen/Vice Chairmen of various Zila Parishads and Presidents of various Municipal Committees and Nagar Panchayats will be taken by the party. In a statement released from the party head office  Badal said that no one will be allowed to take decision at his own.

 Badal further said that the decisions by the party will be taken purely on merit. "The commitment, devotion, service, sacrifice and ability to deliver will be the main criterion for the selection to the above said posts," added SAD chief.

He said that for this purpose one senior party leader is being appointed as an observer. These observers will visit the concerned districts and hold meetings with the newly elected members of Zila Parishads and Municipal Committiees. They will gather their views. They will also interact with the local senior leaders of SAD-BJP alliance and take their opinion also.These observers have been directed to submit detailed reports by July, 12. On the basis of this report the party will decide that who will be the party's candidate for the post of Zila Parishad Chairman or Vice Chairman and President of the Municipal Committee.

Giving details about the party observers, party Secretary & Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that  Dr. Upinderjit Kaur will be party observer for Gurdaspur district, Capt. Kanwaljit Singh for Amritsar, S. Gurdev Singh Badal for Jalandhar, Dr. Rattan Singh Ajnala for Kapurthala, S. MaheshInder Singh Grewal for Hoshiarpur, S. Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur for NawanShahar, S. Sucha Singh Langah for Ropar, S. Balwinder Singh Bhunder for Ludhiana, Bibi Jagir Kaur for Patiala, S. Sewa Singh Sekhwan for Sangrur& Barnala, Jathedar Tota Singh for Bathinda, S. Ranjit Singh Brahampura for Mukatsar, S. Gulzar Singh Ranike for Ferozepur, Jathedar Ajit Singh Kohar for Moga , Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar for Faridkot, S. Sarwan Singh Phillaur for Mansa, S.Surjit Singh Rakhra for Fathegarh Sahib, Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra for Tarn Taran and S. Hira Singh Gabria will be party observer for Mohli.

In addition, Dr. Cheema said that General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal Mr. Balwinder Singh Bhunder has been assigned the task of observer for the  election of Mayor of Bathinda Municipal Corporation.
