25 cases of impersonation detected
PATIALA: The counseling for the admissions in the medical colleges in Punjab will be held on July 15 at Patiala.This was disclosed by Dr. Ravi Inder Singh Ravi, Vice chancellor of BABA Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) while talking to Pioneer here Saturday.

 

He said that the counselling in private colleges for Government as well as management quota will be taken place during central counseling of BFUHS. The Punjab government has amended it earlier notification on Thursday regarding it, he added.

He said that they have caught 25 impersonators and canceled the candidatures of 296 candidates as they have failed to prove their identities in Pre-Medical Entrance Test (PMET) test held on June 22.

He said that those candidates who have not given documents for their identification at the time of application/in the examination centre.  They were given notices/telephone calls for appearing for the identification in the University and their names were put on the web site also. 

Their individual result was provisionally declared with the condition that they shall come for identification. Already on verification of photos submitted by the candidates on OMR Application Form and the videography of the candidate taken at the examination centre, 24 impersonators have been caught and their cases have been sent to Faridkot Police. One person was arrested at Patiala during the examination day.

The date for identification was extended to 04.07.2008.  However 296 candidates have not come forward for identification, hence their candidature stands cancelled and the previous provisional result is also hereby cancelled. The varsity decided to display the merit of only those candidates who have cleared the test and have submitted proper identity proof.

"The university is not responsible for the candidates who have not come forward with proper identity proof. The university cannot wait any longer," said V-C Dr Raviinder Singh. He added that the varsity has given them sufficient time. Around 100 candidates have submitted their identity proofs till now, he added.

Out of the 8,178 candidates who had applied for the PMET, over 7,903 appeared for the test on June 22.
