FAGTEHGARH SAHIB: The body of  young doctor Sandeep Shelly, a resident of Sirhind, who had reportedly drowned in Bhakra Canal on late Wednesday evening was recovered today from Bhakra Canal near Rajpura.

The body was cremated today and people from all walk of life attended the cremation. It may be mentioned here that Dr Sandeep  when he was walking near the canal drowned in the canal . Sandeep was the only son of Sirhind based Dr IM Shelly and was last time  posted at a rural dispensary at village Tarkhan Majra.

As per Vishnu, the driver of the car, when he noticed that Dr Sandeep had fell in the canal he tried his best to save him but all efforts were in vain. Divers have been  making efforts to locate the body since Wednesday .
