Himal, Arunima, Pranjal champions in Chandigarh Chess Championship Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH: Arunima Goyal and Tarini Goyal, of Sacred Heart School, with four points each, finished winner and runner-up in the girls Under-11 category of the Chandigarh Chess Championship at St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School in Sector 44-C here Sunday.

Pranjal Kaura (4 points) and Mayank Kaura (3.5 points) bagged the first and second positions, respectively, in the boys section. These boys and girls have been selected to represent Chandigarh at the National Chess Championship to be held at Ahemdabad from August 23 to 31, according to Vipnesh Bhardwaj, Secretary, Chandigarh Chess Association.

Tejas Nagpal and Roopam Bhardwaj got the consolation prizes.

In the under-25 Category Himal Gusain emerged champion with six points. He was followed closely at the second spot by Shweta with 5 points. Manu Aggarwal and Srishti Jain with 4.5 Points each were placed third and fourth, respectively. These four players will represent Chandigarh at the Under-25 National Chess Championship. Karan Bhatti and Viswanthitha bagged the consolation prize.

A total of 54 players participated in the championship.Jagmail Singh gave away the trophies and prizes to the children.

<strong>Final point position at the end of the fifth and final round in the Under-11 category: </strong>4 points: Arunima Goyal, Tarini Goyal, and Pranjal.3.5 points: Mayank Kaura and Tejas Rishab. 3 points: Prakhar, Sunbir, Anubhav, and Roopam Bhardwaj. 2.5 points: Tanya Kaushal. 2 points: Akash Bhardwaj, Jashan Khurana, Shaurya Panpalia, Archit, Jaskeerat, and Ritik. 1.5 Points: Tejasvi Negi and Kashish Kaushal. 1 point: Jasmrit and Meharvir.

<strong>Under-25 Category:</strong> 6 points: Himal Gusain. 5 points: Shweta. 4.5 points: Manu Aggarwal and Srishti Jain. 4 points: Karan Bhatti, Satbir, Viswanthitha, Sachleen, Tarundeep Singh, and Ravneet Kaur.3.5 points: Anmol Kuthiala, Mayank Sharma, and Simranjeet Kaur. 3 points: Mayank Aggarwal, Devinder Singh Rawat, Vaibhav Arora, Gurpartap Singh, Sandeep Singh, Pallak, Kshitij Bhatnagar, and Ankur Nakra. 2.5 points: Pradeep Singh Negi, Adhish Sood, Siddhant kalia, and Neha. 2 points: Jai Kairon ,Gurnoor, Karan Gupta and Harshdeep Singh, 1.5 points: Jasmeen 1 Point: Vinod Mishra, Gagan Verma, and Harshpreet.
