AMRITSAR: Indian national Ram Prakash (51), arrested by Pakistani authorities a decade ago on charges of spying has been repatriated to India through the international Indo-Pak Attari Check Post here on Monday. On reaching Indian Territory Ram Parkash was received by his son Deepak Kumar.

Parkash crossed over to Indian Territory while carrying the horrible experience, he tasted during his eleven years detention in the Pakistan’s prison.

Parkash was visibly perturbed on being released by Pakistan as his mind was not ready to accept that he arrived on Indian Territory.Parkash vehemently refused the version of Pakistan Government that he was a spy and arrived Pakistan for spying purpose.

Parkash informed that he crossed over to Pakistan inadvertently eleven years back in June 13, 1997 through R.S. Pura Sector of Jammu and Kashmir border.

Narrating his tale of woe to the media, Parkash said, “On being arrested I was kept on torture for   full one year at different locations in Pakistan where I have experienced horrible and hellish period and at one time I was almost dead but God saved me, otherwise Pakistani officials left no chance to kill me”.

“Whenever, any Indian arrested in Pakistan, intelligence staff of Pakistan treat them like animals and inflict worst of worst torture, if someone survives, it is only God’s grace”, Parkash quipped.

“During my eleven year detention in Pakistan, I have seen around twenty five Indians who lost their mental balance and went insane; around 30 Indians died who succumb to torture in jails of Pakistan. Presently, nearly forty Indian prisoners suffering various diseases due to lack of mandatory medical treatment inside the jails”, revealed Parkash.

Parkash said, “During detention particularly Indians should not expect any kind of leniency on the part of Pakistan government. Since there is no medical treatment for Indians, since the indifferent behavior of Pakistani officials has snatched the lives of many Indians so far”.

“No good food, potable water, first aid could be expected in Pakistan’s jail”, added Parkash.

Parkash said, "I was badly disappointed when I was released from the Kotlakhpat Jail following the directions of Pakistan’s Interior Ministry and brought to Attari border for repatriation but Indian Government denied my entry to India on the ground that I was lacking traveling documents. Same day on July 1, again I was lodged in the same jail whereupon my all the hopes towards happiness dashed to ground”.

“Now reaching on Indian soil I have heaved a sigh of relief and thanked to Almighty who saved me from butchers, said Parkash.

Parkash when met his son Deepak Kumar could not recognize him but when BSF (Indian border security force) informed that Deepak is his son then he hugged him.

At the time of repatriation, Pakistan Government gave him Rs. 545/- of Pakistani currency, a towel, a shirt and pent.

Ram Parkash, a resident of Kucha Talab village, near Bishnah in Jammu, was arrested on the charges of spying. Family members of Ram Parkash had claimed that he had inadvertently strayed into Pakistan and not for spying.
