Preneet kaur demands rollback of fee hike in private medical colleges in punjab Print E-mail

PATIALA:  Member parliament from Patiala Preneet kaur on Saturday  demanded the rollback of fee structure for 35% percent management quota for meritorious students of private medical colleges for medicos students for batch 2007.

She said that fee hike by the SAD-BJP government was very inflated and students who have appeared in PMET 2007 after going through the prospectus issued by Baba Farid University of Health sciences.

She said that according to prospectus fee was fixed for Medical Institutes Rs.  1,00,000, Dental Institutes  Rs. 55,000 and for Ayurvedic/Homoeopathic Institutes  it was Rs. 35,000. She said that it was rose to 3,00,000/-, 2,30,000/- and 1,10,000/- respectively on August 3, 2007 by the ruling SAD-BJP government.

She however disclosed that on page no. 37 of the prospectus in note no. 1 it was clearly mentioned that "Note 1.

These include all kinds of charges and nothing extra will be charged from the students under any circumstances on any account whatsoever."
 
She also criticized Punjab chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and medical education minister Tikshan Sood for the playing with the future of meritorious students of Punjab.

She further added the students from poor backgrounds have been selling their house hold things and jewellry to pay fee of their wards. It was difficult for the students who have applied for MBBS course after looking fee for both Government and management quota was 1. 00 lac government has raised fee for three times.
