PSEB supends four engineers

PATIALA: Punjab state electricity board (PSEB) chairman  Y. S. Ratra, on Monday ordered the suspension of four engineers for negligence in performing duties.



Ratra said that Sr.Xen Division Gidderbaha- Er.Jeet Ram, A.E.E./Suburban Sub division Gidderbaha -Er.Manjit Singh, and A.E.E./Khui Kehra Sub division under Fazilka Sub division -Er.K.L.Sony, for negligence in performing duties and leaving the head quarters.           

Ratra informed that the supply of three No. 11 KV feeders namely Mallan (Rural), Kothe Chhappari (Rural) and Chhatteana (4 wire) falling in 33 KV Sub station Bhalaiana in Sub division Gidderbaha failed on 19.7.08 at about 7.30 P.M.  Two No. thimbles of cable box of 11 KV incoming panel of T-1 transformer burnt off.  An angry mob of villagers surrounded the 33 KV sub station Bhalaiana and demanded to restore the supply. 

In view of the volatile situation S.E.Muktsar instructed Er.Jeet Ram, Sr. Xen Division Gidderbaha and Er.Manjit Singh A.E.E. Suburban sub division Gidderbaha to reach the sub-station immediately and make  arrangements for attending to the faults in their presence and pacify the agitated villagers.   Er.Jeet Ram who was not present at the Head quarter paid no heed and without realizing the gravity of the situation passed on the message to Er.Manjit Singh, AEE Suburban S/D, Gidderbaha to reach the spot, who instead of getting the faults repaired left the sub station in fear of the angry mob.  However, the power supply to these feeders was restored at 1.00 A.M. on 20.7.08 by Sr.Xen/DS Divn., Malout.

Ratra further informed that similarly, Er.K.L.Sony, AEE, Khui Khera failed to locate the fault in 11 KV Singhpura feeder which emanates from 33 KV S/S Khui Khera for the last 3 days.  As a result on 19.7.08 at about 11 P.M. a mob of villagers entered the 33 KV sub station Khui Khera and broke the door/window glasses & took away the mobile phone of SSA on duty.  Not only this, they themselves closed all the 11 KV Breakers & cut the telephone wire. No efforts were made to control the situation by Er.K.L.Sony AEE of DS Divn., Khui Khera.

Chairman stated that strict instructions have been issued to Board's officers/officials to remain present at their respective head quarters and attend to the complaints/faults at personal level during the on going paddy season. Chairman warned all such like irresponsible officials of strict action if found negligent in the performance of their duties.

Board is monitoring the situation round the clock, control rooms have been set up at various levels. Sh.Ratra appealed to the consumers to immediately bring major break downs/power disruptions to the notice of respective Board authorities and assured the consumers specially the farmers to provide quality power supply and reliable consumer service during the paddy season
