SAD expells its MP Sukhdev Singh Libra |

CHANDIGRH; The Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) has expelled its Member Parliament Sukhdev Singh Libra from party for abstaining from the Lok Sabha during trust vote on July 22. The SAD had voted against the UPA government at center that won the trust vote.
Daljit Singh Cheema party spokesman and secretary said that Libra had violated the party decipline and betrayed the leadership. He said that he was also issued a show cause notice before recommending his expulsion as member of Lok Sabha. He said that party would write to Lok Sabha speaker to dismiss Libra as he had violated the party whip. Cheema said that Libra had taken money from Congress party and giave a bad name to the high traditions of SAD. He admitted that they had no prior information that Libra would abstain from the house. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal had accsued Libra for receiving Rs.20 crore bribe. Meanwhile, Libra has stated that his conscience didn't allow him to vote against the Sikh Prime Minsiter. He said that he had acted in national intererst. He said that national interest is bigger than the party. He said that SAD was supporter of nuclear deal and its opposition for the sake of opposition was unfair. He also asked Sukhbir Badal not to cross his limits. He said that he had not taken any money. Had he was a selling commodity, he had been purchased long back by Badal's. Libra was a supporter of former SGPC president late Gurcharan Singh Tohra. A dalit, he is two time MP from Ropar Lok Sabha constituency. |
