PHAGWARA: Just few hours after the election of Block BJP President Balbhadhar Sein Duggal as first BJP Nagar Council President in Phagwara unanimously yesterday, newly elected BJP Councillor Sarita Sood has raised voice against the selection procedure adopted by BJP leaders including Punjab BJP President Prof Rajinder Bhandari and BJP General Secretary Ashwini Sharma.
Talking to newsmen here Thursday, Sood who won the council elections with biggest margin of 743 votes among all contesting BJP candidates from ward number 13,alleged that though seven out of nine elected BJP Councillors met Bhandari, Sharma and Technical Education Minister Swarana Ram few days back and made their claims against Duggal and Bhandari and Sharma had assured them to honour the majority decision, but all seven BJP councilors were shocked,when a sealed envelop sent by BJP high command was opened in the meeting of the council and read the name of Balbhadhar Sein Duggal as president of the Council. She said, keeping in view of party discipiline all seven councilors kept mum in the meeting, but now onwards no body will tolerate the dictatorial attitude of BJP Leaders who openly ignored and insulted the democractic principals according to which all seven bjp councilors were opposing Duggal as NC president. She however made it clear that she will remain party sipahi at all cost.Mrs Sood even asked BJP high command to made a thorough enquiry about the working of Duggal either from party leaders or through intelligence agencies as Duggal who was openly went on working against party guidelines and was joining hands with several congress leaders. She alleged that Bhandari and Sharma have violated the party principals,which could not be tolerated at any cost.She said she will soon send representations to BJP High Command in New Delhi including Punjab BJP Affairs Incharge Balbir Punj to apprise the real picture.She reiterated that she will continue to adopt her stand to oppose Duggal at every step at every cost. On the other hand,Block BJP President cum newly elected Nagar Council Phagwara President Balbhadhar Sein Duggal when contacted, described the step of Mrs Sood to go to media as Anti-Party activities and said he will look into the matter in details and will soon send his recommendations to party high command against sarita Sood. Duggal however made his commitments to actively work for the development of the town and to provide basic amenities to the people leaving behind party politics |
