Punjab govt set up control room at Anandpur Sahib ROPAR: Even as death toll in stampede at Naina Devi Temple rises to 146, the Himachal Pardesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has ordered a magistrial inquiry into the incident. Punjab government has set up a contgrol room at Anandpur Sahib in Ropar district.
Official sources said here that Divisional Commissioner, Mandi, has been named Inquiry Officer. He would go into the cause of the incident, negligence on the part of officers, if any, and suggest measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future. All the dead bodies have been shifted to Bhai Jaita government hospital Anandpur Sahib. B.Parshartha Deputy Commissioner of Ropar who is supervising the rescue operations in Anandpur Sahib said that 146 dad bodies have been received so far. He said that injured persons have been admitted in Nangal and Ropar hospitals and some have been referred to PGI Chandigarh. The incident has sent shock waves in Punjab since majority of te people killed in stampede belonged to Malwa region of Punjab. Large number of people from Punjab visit the temple during Navratras every year. Deputy Commissioner said that post mortem of dead bodies conducted over night for which medical teams from all over Punjab have reached Anandpur Sahib. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee(SGPC) has extended all help to the families of victims.
