Jatehdar Akal Takht appeals Sikh community to shun confrontation

Gurbachan singhAMRITSAR: Newly installed Jatehdar Akal Takht GIani Gurbachan Singh Thursday appealed to Sikh community not to adopt policy of confrontation in the ongoing Dera Sacha Sauda issue.



Talking to the media here  Giani Gurbachan Singh said that shortly meeting of five Sikh Head Priests would be called at the secretariat of Akal Takht Amritsar to decide the next line of action to tackle the contentious Dera Sacha Sauda issue. He said that he alone would not take any decision to decide further line of action for Dera Sacha Sauda as it would be with the proper consent of head priests of other Takhts.

He also sought help from Governments of Punjab, Haryana and Union Government of India  to snub the anti Sikh activities being carried out by Dera Sacha Sauda.

He said peace and tranquillity In Punjab should be maintained and anti Sikh Community people from Dera Sacha Sauda should not be allowed to create violence in Punjab and in this regard people of Punjab should not loos their temper to indulge in violence.

Giani Gurbachan Singh said that the Sikhs who were killed recently in Dera row wherein Chief of Dera Sauda was found involved would definitely be punished by the court of law. Gurbachan Singh said that if any problem rise before the meeting of five Sikh priests then Punjab Government would be asked to come forward to tackle this issue with the coordination of Union Government of India and Haryana Government.

He said that services of SGPC would also be involved to tackle the Dera Sacha Sauda issue. Talking about the differences between the Sikh head priests, he said that now there was no more difference since priests from all Takhts were present here during his coronation ceremony held at Akal Takht.
