PHAGWARA: The list for money  took the life of one village youth Gopal (17) who drowned in the bein (rivulet), while three of his friends succeeded in saving their lives during an adventure in Bein rivulet near Chiherru on national highways between Phagwara and Jalandhar Saturday evening.

According to the reports received here this evening,the deceased was identified as Gopal @ Gopi of nearby village Paragpur.Phagwara SDM Amarjit Pal, DSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh and Tehsildar Amanpal Singh rushed to the site and started search operation.

SDM Pal told this correspondent on the site that three boats were put into operation while the swimmers were called from nearby village Shankar to search the deadbody of the deceased youth.Situation became tense when hundreds of villagers blocked vehicular road traffic on national highways near the bein site in protest against the delayed action of administration.

Later the Swimmers succeeded to locate the deadbody of the deceased youth which was blocked near bushes under the bein water.The deadbody was later sent to local civil hospital for postmarterm examination.SDM Pal told that these four youths were collecting coins, which were being thrown by the devotees passing on the bridge of flooded bein.SDM said the deceased youth Gopal lone son of their parents drowned in the bein while three others Harmesh,Gurpreet and Joga Singh of the same village Paragpur succeeded to save their lives.It may be mentioned here that a religious place named "Khabaja Di Dargah" was situated in the bein which was under the bein water due to flooded  water,but the devotees continued to pay obeysances by throwing coins in the bein,while passing through bridge.

This correspondent met few women relatives of the deceased,who told that the deceased came from the house after taking lunch,but never returned.
