CHANDIGARH:  Advocating the need for strengthening the concept of public-private partnerships, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Gen. (Retd.) S.F. Rodrigues, Monday asked the officers to make the system of Governance more transparent and free from bureaucratic hurdles to facilitate the process of improving service delivery systems and changing the life and outlook of our people. 

Accompanied by Jean Rodrigues, the Administrator listened the grievances of the people for about two hours at UT Secretariat, here today and set deadlines for sorting out the general and individual issues submitted by the people in the Public Hearing Session. He told the officers to refine their organizational mechanisms and create positive environment of faith and trust among the people about the Administration’s functioning.  In many cases he has asked for the compliance report within a week’s time.  When a deputation brought to his notice, the illegal money lending business by some unscrupulous elements, the Administrator asked the Inspector General of Police & Deputy Commissioner to make an enquiry and submit the report within seven days.

Another deputation submitted that the mobile tower is creating noise pollution in their residential areas, General Rodrigues asked the Finance Secretary and Deputy Commissioner to ensure the enforcement of guidelines in this regard and take urgent action against the violators as per law.  The Finance Secretary mentioned that the Mobile towers in the residential localities are not allowed and the existing ones are being removed. The Administrator offered all help and support to a deputation of Manimajra residents for upgrdation of infrastructural facilities in the cremation ground site for bringing improvement in the services.  He also asked them to extend their partnership in its remodeling and maintenance.

General Rodrigues asked the Deputy Commissioner to speed up the work on the projects of Terminal Market, Ware-housing Complex and also make a simultaneous plan for relocation of the existing Grain Market, Sector 26 in partnership with the members of trading community. He also asked the Finance Secretary to speed up the work on  construction of lake in the Patiala-ki-rao to store the excess rainwater and channelize it for profitable use. The projects of Medicity, Education City and development of the Institution Area also figured  in the discussion and the Administrator told the concerned project officers to speed up the work and remove the bottlenecks, if any, coming in the way for their speedy execution.

Singh, Secretary to Governor, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Finance Secretary, Mr. Mohanjeet Singh, Chairman Chandigarh Housing Board, Mr. R.K. Rao, Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Mr. S.K. Jain, Inspector General of Police and Mr. Roshan Sankaria, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation.
