CHANDIGARH: Justice Ranjit Singh of Punjab and Haryana High Court  Tuesday asked for amicable end to dera Sacha Sauda row while making remarks on the contentious issue of Dera Sacha Sauda chief's alleged imitation of Guru Gobind Singh.

Making an observation that would probably drive home the message to all concerned; the judge said no one could match sacrifices made by Guru Gobind Singh, who at the tender age of nine asked his illustrious father to make the supreme sacrifice for the sake of truth. Also, the Sikh Guru sacrificed his four sons in the battle against repression, cruelty and injustice.

The judge hammered on the need to ensure an amicable end to the row. The advice came in the wake of a hearing on a plea by Dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, wherein he had sought quashing of an FIR registered against him by Punjab police in Bathinda.

A case had been registered against the controversial Dera head for "deliberately" outraging the religious sentiments of the Sikhs. The FIR against the Dera head was registered at Kotwali police station in Bathinda on a complaint by Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Bathinda, and Khalsa Dewan president Rajinder Singh.

It was registered after IG MK Tiwari had submitted a report to the state government on the violence that erupted in parts of Punjab between sections of Sikhs and members of the sect.
